Buying a domain name for around £15 for a year!

Buying a domain name is a relatively simple task, it is just like buying anything online really.
There are a few things to be aware of before you make your purchase.
Don’t be taken in by special offers on domains, most of them come with strings attached for example you have to purchase hosting. On the other hand, sometimes you may get a lower price for the first year.
Domains do have to be renewed annually (unless you buy them for longer than a year).
Domain names have to be unique, so you may not be able to get your first choice of name.
It is the .co.uk domain names that cost around £15 per year, from 123-reg.co.uk.
Remember, you don’t need to buy hosting!
You must be willing to provide the website you purchase it from, accurate details, otherwise your domain may get suspended.
You don’t have to have domain privacy protection, but it might come free with your domain name.
You may get the option to Select “Whois” opt out, if you do get the option please select it (for non-trading individuals buying certain .uk domains only), but don’t worry if you miss it!
Its sounds silly but make sure you are just buying a name, and not hosting, as a lot of hosting websites don’t sell domains individually.
Make sure your domain name comes with a FREE online control panel, and you can use the same static IP address for two Nameservers (sometimes call Hostnames).
You can use any domain registrar website you want, however I use http://www.123-reg.co.uk.
On the 123-reg.co.uk website from the Sign In menu, select “Create and account”
Fill in your details and register.
You may get the option, to buy your domain name during the registration, however if you don’t, you will find links to buying a domain name from within the 123-Reg control panel.
Anyway, you can move on to the next topic, called Set your new domain name to link back to your internet connection when you have bought your domain name.
