Unless you want to close down your server forever or unplug it from the Internet, you cannot stop cyber-attacks 100%, unfortunately this is something we just have to live with in this day and age.
Steps you can take to reduce the risk,
1. Make sure your server is always up to date with all the latest software and patches.
2. Watch the system log files for any suspicious entries and block the IP if possible.
3. Take regular backups, so in the event your server is compromised it will minimise the downtime.
4. Use random letters, number and even symbols in your passwords where possible.
5. Avoid using the same password for different things.
